Residency Recap: The Ohio State University

Ashley and I spent last week at The Ohio State University School of Music and the Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise doing a joint residency!

We presented a session on musical identity, participated in a panel on the state of arts entrepreneurship, and Ashley presented additional sessions on branding, portfolio careers for musicians, and musical informances.

I was able to work with OSU ensembles who are preparing for performances of Six Little Songs, Lauda, Magnolia Star, and Entrata. The OSU students are such a pleasure to work with! Scott A. Jones is an amazing musician and person, and I'm grateful that he dedicated so much rehearsal time to my music. It's a luxury to have ample rehearsal time, and we had it! Finally, I had the chance to visit with Micah Abrams and his excellent Dublin Jerome High School band, and we spent a meaningful rehearsal working on Into the Silent Land. Many magical moments making music and talking about music careers were had in Columbus.
