Home from a fantastic visit to the University of Central Arkansas where the Wind Ensemble and my good friend Michael Hancock recorded my new "Fantasia on a Theme of Robert Schumann." It's so rewarding hearing your creation come to life exactly as you hope it will sound - Michael and the musicians were brilliant! Thanks to the awesome recording team of Brad Genevro and Vince Kenney. Can't wait to hear the final product. Grateful. I also had the chance to meet with several student composers at UCA and look at their music - great stuff and super fun.
This was fun! I love talking with students about their career plans, and what I've learned in my career!

Saxophonists! I'm excited to announce a consortium for a new work for tenor sax and piano, "Scenes from Veneto." The concept is modeled after the great "Tableaux de Provence" by Paule Maurice. "Scenes from Veneto" will be a suite of short movements, totaling about 10-14 minutes, inspired by the beautiful scenery and history of the Veneto region in Italy. I visited this area recently to celebrate my brother’s retirement from the US Air Force. I was honored when he asked me to perform "The Star Spangled Banner” on tenor sax—growing up playing in many musical ensembles together, it was very special to contribute music to his retirement ceremony. Looking forward to working with MA music teachers in a couple of weeks! I'll be talking about resources that I think music teachers may find helpful including Eric Laprade's chorale book, my Etude Composition Project, flex music, and more!
